The role of the surface physics group of Prof. J. Osterwalder is to:

• Better understand the atomic structure of the nanomesh unit cell
• Test new substrates and precursors for nanomesh formation with varied structural and chemical properties
• Study ordered aggregates of metallic deposits in the mesh holes for their structural, electronic and magnetic properties
• Characterize surfaces by STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscopy), photoelectron spectroscopy, photoelectron diffraction and time-resolved photoemission.
